Artist: Loire

Described by the Chicago Tribune as “astonishing,” Loire (aka Lori Cotler) is a critically acclaimed Rhythm Vocalist whose mission is to show the world the power of the voice as a rhythm instrument. Having coined the phrase rhythm vocalist to describe her signature style, Loire has dazzled audiences and critics worldwide with her wordless improvisations, virtuosic vocal percussion techniques and bold eclectic repertoire from Medieval to Be-Bop and World Music to Avant-Pop.

Loire tours internationally as a featured soloist with world-class innovators, including multiple Grammy-Award winners Glen Velez, Howard Levy, Eugene Friesen, Basque National legend Kepa Junkera, Serbian composer Milica Paranosic, S. Indian Vina master Chitravina Ravikiran, National Chinese Orchestra and American Composers Orchestra.

Loire’s distinctive approach to the voice has led to teaching invitations throughout the world, including master classes at The Juilliard School. Loire attended Berklee College of Music and earned a Master degree in Music Therapy from NYU. Music Therapy is an important leitmotif that weaves through every aspect of Loire’s musical and charity work. For more info: http://www.rhythmvocalist.com

Konnakol with Loire Cotler, Rhythmic Vocalist

Loire Cotler 0

Lori “Loire” Cotler is a remarkable force in both the worlds of jazz and rhythmic vocals. She is also noted as an authority in Konnakol – a South Indian drum language that requires rapid fire articulation and musicality, which she demonstrates here.
