John Carroll won first place in our second annual “New Voices” essay contest. Drawing from his personal experience with autism spectrum disorder, Carroll investigated how we might create concerts that better serve neuro-diverse audiences.

John Carroll earned a degree in Music Performance from SUNY Schenectady County Community College in 2017 and is currently studying composition at SUNY Fredonia with Jamie Leigh Sampson. He has been music director and composer for the Fredonia Theatre Department’s productions of “Grapes of Wrath” and “Silent Sky.”
