2018 Colour of Music Festival

October 24 - October 28

The Colour of Music Festival shines a light on the significance of black classical musicians throughout history – like that of Le Chavalier de Saint-Georges, an 18th-century celebrity of French opera – as well as the enormous contributions of today’s classical musicians of African ancestry.

21CM Takeaway: The world is rich with world-class instrumentalists, singers, composers and conductors of African descent, yet their opportunities to perform on American stages are few. The Colour of Music Festival is helping to amend this. This year’s festival features four days of stunning performances with an emphasis on Baroque masterworks like Handel’s “Zadok the Priest” and J.S. Bach’s Magnificat.
