“Perle Noire: Meditations for Joséphine”

This performance, which takes place in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and includes a museum day pass with every ticket, features soprano Julia Bullock as the renowned 20th century singer, activist and cultural icon Joséphine Baker.

21CM Takeaway: Conceived by Peter Sellars, with music by Tyshawn Sorey and text by Claudia Rankine, “Perle Noire: Meditations for Joséphine” is a collaboration between brilliant, daring artists described by The New York Times as “one of the most important works of art yet to emerge from the era of Black Lives Matter.”
