UBC Opera Presents “Silent Night”

November 3 - November 9

UBC Opera stages Kevin Puts’s Pulitzer Prize-winning opera, “Silent Night,” which dramatizes the true story of the 1914 Christmas Truce: a spontaneous ceasefire between opposing forces entrenched in No Man’s Land during World War I.

21CM Takeaway: In honor of the WWI Armistice centennial on November 11, opera companies around the world are staging Puts’s “Silent Night.” In addition to its splendid music, this opera presents a remarkable story of human connection amidst the futility of war.
