Throughout 2017, our talented panel of artist-curators highlighted 55 people, organizations and projects that they believed were advancing the musical arts in interesting ways. Each month, the voting by you, our readers, narrowed down the field to create this year’s elite group of POP winners. Now, let’s all give a cheer for the overall winner and the POP Icon of 2017, Four/Ten Media, a production company specializing in creating videos for contemporary classical artists. POP curator Molly Joyce writes about how their work “enhance[s] and complement[s] the performers and their music while not seeming overbearing. Four/Ten is a partnership between Evan Chapman and Kevin Eikenberg, both classically trained percussionists, and … their video work represents the importance of visuality and physicality in musical performance.”
We also celebrate the POP winners in each category. Four/Ten Media also takes the prize for our POP Organization of 2017, while the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Talent Development Program wins as our POP Project and Vince Peterson as our POP Person of 2017.
Congratulations to all!
