BOZAR is an amazing cultural center in the heart of Brussels. Every time I arrive there, I’m inspired by all that is wonderful in the world – music, dance, art, cinema, literature … There is a real diversity, and an emphasis on the idea that each of us, as we are drawn to the center by a love for perhaps Picasso or Cecilia Bartoli, can find inspiration in other art forms that are not our normal playground. I’m lucky enough to be working at BOZAR again this year on a massed choir singing weekend called Singing Brussels. The concert is also interactive with the audience, designed so that anyone can take part, whether they read music or not. The overall theme, “Hymn to our City,” comes at a time when Brussels is searching for a renewed sense of identity after a difficult year, one that included the terrorist attacks that shook the city to its core.
