Vince Peterson is a musical hero of mine. Fans of Chanticleer will have grooved to his jaw-dropping a cappella arrangement of Freddie Mercury’s “Somebody to Love,” but Peterson is also the founding director of New York City’s Choral Chameleon, a program whose goal is to expand both the imagination and the materials for choral singing.

This project makes my heart sing. The Philadelphia School District owns more than 1000 broken musical instruments, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang, in collaboration with Temple Contemporary (whose mission is “to re-imagine the social function of art”), is creating a “symphony” for these broken instruments.
